A RISO-printed zine made for Paula's fine arts graduation. The work takes Zyzz as its starting point: gym legend, early internet icon, accidental figurehead of the looksmaxxing movement. An examination of the male loneliness epidemic and the pressure of performing an identity online.
Concept, writing, and painting by Paula. Graphic design by me.
Paula's practice centres on painting found digital images in oil, slowing them down, pulling at the fabricated nostalgia embedded in internet culture. Her work reclaims the history of painting through a critical, feminine lens.
